The Vacation Care program runs at the YWCA Centre throughout the school holidays (7.30am-6pm). The program offers affordable and fun holiday activities for the children of parents living or working in the Newcastle inner city region. Children must be enrolled at school and aged 5-12 years.

Cost is $50 per child per day (plus additional costs such as excursion/incursion fees). We are funded through DEC with parents eligible for the Government’s Child Care Rebate and/or Child Care Benefit available. Special events/Donations during April:
16th April – Year of the Dog Day – hopefully Newcastle Dog Rescue will be visiting, they’ll tell us all about what they do & how they help abandoned dogs to find loving homes. If you would like to make a donation, necessities such as puppy milk, puppy, dog and cat food, flea and worm treatments, kennels, beds, leads, collars, harnesses, toys, etc are always in demand.

24th April – Anzac Walk Day – we are planning to send some Care Packages to troops currently serving overseas. When you’re away from loved ones, a little gift from home can help make a world of difference. We can try to brighten the day for a deserving soldier. The Defence Force recommends items like toiletries (non aerosol deodorant or shaving cream, lip balm, talcum powder, shower gel) and non-perishable food (anzac biscuits, lollies, instant noodles, small tinned goods). Magazines, puzzle books, DVDs, and socks are also good.

You don’t need to be attending on either of these days to contribute, donations can be brought in any day.

Child Care Subsidy:
The Australian Government is introducing a new child care package from 2 July 2018. The existing Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate will be replaced by a new Child Care Subsidy. To see how the new changes may affect you, please visit:

Please note: Changes to your booking can only be made by selecting an alternative day of care, if vacancies are available (within the current vacation care period).  Changes to bookings must be received by our office by 3pm on the day before the vacation care booking.  Booking cancellations are not accepted.  All non-attendance will be deemed as ‘absent’ and fees will apply.  For more information regarding this and other matters relating to our centre please refer to the Vacation Care Family Information brochure.
