Are you interested in using your personal and professional skills to further the vision and values of an organisation committed to improving the lives of women and marginalised genders through advancing gender equity?

YWCA Hunter Region Inc. is part of a national and international movement and have been a part of the Hunter community for more than 100 years. Our goal is to promote women’s leadership and gender equity by leading social and economic change through empowerment and leadership development. We seek to find local solutions to global gender inequalities as a part of a movement that covers 125 countries. Across the world the YWCA advocates for peace, justice, human rights and care of the environment and is proud to be at the forefront of raising the status of women.

Y‐Hunter has been supporting and working with women in the Newcastle region since 1880 and exists today to support, empower and connect women and families for a stronger community. We are excited to be in a season of re-launching YWCA Hunter for a strong and purpose-filled future.

We are looking to expand and diversify the Board of Directors of our association and are calling for Expressions of Interest from people who identify as women to join our Board. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women from culturally and linguistically diverse communities to apply.

Board positions will be to initially fill casual vacancies with directors nominated for election to the Board at the Annual General Meeting to be held in November 2023. Directors are elected for a 3‐year term with the opportunity to remain on the Board for a following 3‐year term.

We are looking to appoint multiple directors to the Board with skills and experience across a broad range of areas. Whether you are an experienced Board Director or just starting your Board career, if you have a passion for gender equity and social justice we would love to hear from you.

Board meetings are held via video conferencing on a 6‐8 weekly basis after normal business hours (AEDT/AEST) and we invite people who identify as women primarily inside Newcastle/Hunter Region to apply, however strong candidates who don’t live locally will be considered. To submit an Expression of Interest, please complete the EOI form and submit via email board@ywcahunterregion.org.au, together with a current CV/resume, to Alex Potter, Board President.

Closing Date: 14 August 2023.
