Thriving beyond Treatment: Outcomes of the 2025 Singleton ENCORE Program

The results are in - and they're powerful. ENCORE Singleton delivered measurable and meaningful improvements in the lives of local women.

The Singleton ENCORE program, run by YWCA Hunter Region, has shown impressive results in supporting women recovering from breast cancer.

Over an 8-week period, participants achieved significant improvements in cardiovascular endurance, lower body strength, and flexibility—core indicators of functional recovery post-treatment.

✨17% increase in step count reflects enhanced aerobic capacity, which is closely linked to reduced fatigue and improved heart health.

✨Gains in chair stand repetitions and reach distances demonstrate increased muscular strength and joint mobility, supporting greater independence and reduced risk of falls.

✨These outcomes are consistent with Australian research, which show that structured exercise can stimulate anti-cancer responses and improve overall physical resilience in breast cancer survivors.

Participants also reported enhanced emotional wellbeing, confidence, and social connection, showing that ENCORE delivers not just physical improvements, but meaningful social and emotional benefits.

Delivered at no cost to participants thanks to generous funding from Yancoal Mt Thorley Warkworth, ENCORE continues to be a vital program for women in the Hunter Region.

“This is an amazing program and I wish I knew about it sooner” said one participant.
