Digital Confidence Starts Here: Free Program for Over 50s

YWCA Hunter Region is delighted to share that we’ve received a Building Digital Skills grant from Good Things Australia, enabling us to deliver a series of free digital skills sessions for people aged 50+ throughout 2026.

This exciting program is designed to support older adults to build confidence, stay connected, and get more out of everyday technology in a welcoming, supportive environment.

Whether you’re looking to better use your smartphone, access essential online services, or simply feel more confident navigating the digital world, these sessions are for you.

What’s Included

Participants can attend a series of free, hands-on digital mentoring sessions, covering a range of practical and relevant topics:

28 May 2026: Your Phone Camera & Photos

Learn how to take better photos, use panorama mode, organise your gallery, and share images with family and friends.

25 June 2026: myGov, Medicare & Centrelink Online

A step-by-step guide to setting up and using your myGov account, linking services, and making online claims.

23 July 2026: AI: What It Is and How to Use It

Explore what artificial intelligence really is, try simple tools, and understand how it can support everyday life.

27 August 2026: Managing Your Digital Life

Learn how to organise files and photos, back up important information, and understand cloud storage.

24 September 2026: Selling & Shopping Online Safely

Build confidence buying and selling online, including tips on using PayID and avoiding scams.

26 November 2026: Apps for Everyday Life

Discover useful apps for health, communication, and day-to-day convenience.

When: Thursdays, 10:45am – 12:15pm
